the agenda

October 8, 2010

I love those of you who are looking for structure in this non-event. Love you. Hard.

So here is the agenda. Subject to change, especially if things go wrong. We will post updates on this page as needed. I expect some additional presentations to be added.

All times are US Eastern.

Ustream links will be posted on Twitter and on the #BHF10PP site.

Prizes will be announced throughout the two days. Once you win a prize, you are ineligible to win any of the other prizes, except for four prizes: SEO Consulting from VinoLuci, WordPress website development work from VinoLuci, Swag Bag from BlogHerFood gala night event, and (of course) the ticket to BlogHer Food 2011.

Please, you all don’t need a facilitator. BHF10PP is a community-driven effort, and you don’t need the events below to interact, play, sob, snark, and laugh. Create your own conversations, events, fake speaker sessions…and we will all play along. Be silly, absurd. And be thankful we have each other, even if we really are all alone.

Friday, 8 October

  • 9-12 – Be irritated that you’re not at BlogHer Food. Maybe drink.
  • 12:00 – Keynote address by thepeche.com – Chris and Karen – on Ustream. Our children will be screaming in the background. I promise.
  • 12:15 pm – Habanero Margarita demo -MyFoodThoughts – Ustream
  • 12:20 – 12:30 – Your favorite booze tweet discussion: Discuss the drink you use to forget the pain, to spice up your life, to forget your name.
  • 1:00-5:00 – Post your kitchen disaster. We’ll launch a page on BHF10PP.wordpress.com and you can post your disasters. Keep ’em pithy and funny.
  • 2:00 – 5:00 – Describe yourself in 140 characters: A bottle of vodka goes to the best tweet that describes you, your blog, and your voice.
  • 3:00 – Cry about not moving on to Round 4 if Project Food Blog on Foodbuzz.com
  • 5:00-ish – Winner of 140 character self-tweet contest announced.
  • 6:00 – Pit-y-ing yourself and an avocado – From Savor the Thyme – Watch on Ustream
  • 9:15 – SEO Consulting prize annouced from VinoLuci
  • 10:00 – BlogHer Gala Night Swag Bag Announced
  • 12:00 am – Watch the BlogHer Food Red Carpet – Watch the interviews on Ustream, tweet your questions at them, and smithbites will ask as many of them as she can of the attendees

Saturday, 9 October

  • 8:00 – 9:00 am – Drink. Eat some. Make some hot carbs.
  • 9:00 am – Day 2 welcome from thepeche on Ustream
  • 9:15 – 10:00 – Saddest picture contest: Take a picture (and post to Twitter) of the saddest thing you ate for breakfast (real or absurd). Winner chosen by thepeche.
  • 10:15 – Winner of the saddest picture announced.
  • 10:30 – Be disappointed you didn’t win the saddest picture contest.
  • 11:00-11:15  – Working with Brands: A live Ustream chat with Savor the Thyme on how to work with and support brands. This one isn’t a joke. Tweet your questions live. Jennifer has a lot of experience working with brands, and she’s ready to take your questions and help you.
  • Noon – A Pity Party S’mores instructional guide from JenSchall/MyKitchenAddiction via Ustream.
  • 1:00-1:15 – Creating the best online presence: A live Ustream chat with VinoLuci. Ask anything you want to know about WordPress, SEO, anything at all. Barb is a well-regarded technical sage on Twitter. People constantly ask her questions about the best way to improve their sites. She’s here to help and answer your questions.
  • 1:15ish – Winner of the WordPress website development from VinoLuci is announced.
  • 2:30 – Demystifying Chocolate Transfer Sheets from robynski on Ustream.
  • 3:00 – Drink heavily. The babysitter is gone at this point, and Karen is at a photography class in the city, so I may be MIA while preventing children from dashing each other in the head.
  • 5:00-8:00 –  Your favorite post. We each have a post that we’ve written that we’re really proud of, that shows us at out best. So while we’re at our worst at the PP, let’s remember and share with each other what we can be when not sobbing on the kitchen floor. (Tweet and post to the BHF10PP site on a special section.)
  • 8:00 – Giveaway our copy of Gluten-Free Girl & the Chef while Shauna is helping give the closing keynote at BlogHer Food.
  • 9:00 – Announce the winner of the free ticket to BlogHer Food 2011.
  • 9:15 – Sobs and drinking
  • 9:30 – Virtual hugz
  • 10:00 – Feelings of regret

  9. I’m adding in Friday, 3 PM EST, when we cry about not moving on in Project Food Blog.

  10. Haha, feelings of regret – that’s the most pathetic part. 🙂

  11. Please sign me up! Does one need pretend hotel reservations? Pretend ID on a lanyard? How does one join in the tweet party? Not particularly tweet savvy. Or organized. Hence forgetting to buy a Blogher ticket AGAIN until they were sold out. And I live relatively close to SF. So sad. Still, I would probably never get out of Golden Boys Pizza anyway if I went to The City. http://www.goldenboypizza.com/

  12. I hope I am not too sick when I am live on Ustream tomororw from all the bad eating and drinking

  13. We are so in. First order of business: Eating a lot of jam. Right out of the jar. No spoon.
